Description

Hi – I am renting my fully furnished house for a few months while I travel this winter and spring. It will be available January 1st, and the lease period is flexible from 4 to 9 months. I need a minimum 4 month commitment, but after that can go month-to-month up until Oct. 1st. Perfect for folks in transition, or relocating to Seattle who need time to learn the city and search for longer-term housing. I’m looking for people who would enjoy living here and will take care of the space.

The house is an old craftsman that I have remodeled into two separate units. Each floor is 1,000 sqft. I live upstairs (1st floor) and this is the space that I am renting. Downstairs I have two nice tenants in their mid 20’s who live in the basement unit. They work 9-5 during the week and are considerate people. We can hear each other a little between the two units, but it’s never been too loud as to be a problem.

The space you’ll be living in has a good size living room with a cozy gas fireplace and a dining room large enough to host dinner parties. The living room has a beautiful upright piano and a 50″ TV with Roku. Between the living and dining room is a small powder room with a toilet and sink. The kitchen is well-equipped: gas stove, hood, dishwasher, large fridge, microwave, and toaster oven. Plus lots of appliances and ample counter space. The pantry in the kitchen is used half for food storage, and half for the brand new washer dryer. At the far end of the kitchen is an office nook with windows on two sides. Stairs off of the office nook lead downstairs, but there is a locked door separating the two units.

The two bedrooms are on the smaller side. The purple one has a full-sized storage bed with 6 large drawers. There is also a large closet with a dresser and lots of space for hanging clothes. The green bedroom is set up as a flex space. The trundle bed can be used as a day bed, two single beds, or the trundle mattress can be brought up to the same height as the day bed to make a king. The green room also has a small writing desk, chair, and dresser. This bedroom has a small closet. Between the two bedrooms is a full bathroom with a nice soaking tub and rain showerhead.

There is no dedicated parking, but the rental comes with a guest pass for permitted parking on the street. 80% of the time you can park right in front of the house, the other 20% you have to park down the block. The house is perched up from the street by 18 stairs. There is a nice big porch for drinking your coffee in the morning and a small unfenced yard. In the rear of the house there is a larger fenced yard, which you are welcome to use. However, to access it you will need to walk around the house and enter through the side gate.

Columbia City is a very diverse and vibrant neighborhood in south Seattle located 4 miles from downtown. You can easily walk to the grocery store, cafes, restaurants, library, movie theater, bars, farmers market, and parks. We are only three blocks from the link light rail train station and many bus lines, so it is very easy to get around. It’s also easy to walk to the lake when you need a nature fix. Be sure to check out Seward Park. I have lived in Seattle most of my life, and this is one of my favorite places.

I will remove all of my personal belongings like clothes, toiletries, food, etc, before I leave, but everything else in the photos stays. There is everything you need, including things like bedding and towels. But there is very little storage or room for additional furniture. Please also be aware that a dog has lived here for the last 10 years. Although I will have the house professionally cleaned before I leave, if you have dog allergies this is probably not a great fit for you. You are welcome to bring up to two well-behaved dogs with an additional $250 refundable damage deposit per dog. No cats, sorry.

Fees to be paid prior to occupancy are first month’s rent ($2500), last month’s rent ($2500), and security deposit ($1000 + pets). Security deposit and last month’s rent can be paid on an installment plan. Tenant pays all utilities, which are set at $200/month for single occupancy and includes electricity, gas, water, sewage, garbage, and high-speed internet. Utilities for additional occupants will be $50/person. Maximum occupancy is 4.There is no smoking allowed in the house or on the premises.
